Quilt Kits.

Why not make your own quilt? This project is ideal for primary school pupils, enabling them to work as a group to produce a simple but dazzling quilt to be proud of. The Foundation Piecing technique provides the basis for a quilt filled with character. Kits contain fabrics, templates, decorations, needles, thread, backing fabric, wadding and binding - in fact everything you need to get going. No sewing machines needed and simple enough for inexperienced hand sewers. Work together to lay completed blocks to their best advantage then work in smaller groups to assemble. Recreate a quilting bee by sitting together to fix the layers together with tiny stitches or buttons. Your completed quilt can be displayed, given to a good cause, sold or raffled for funds. Quilt kits cost £10 per 10" block and include all materials needed to produce a quilt. One block is suitable for one individual to work on. Price includes post and packing to UK locations.

Benefits to your group of creating a quilt are:

  • Working as a team to produce, design and construct of a quilt.
  • Use of motor skills.
  • Involvement with a variety of fabrics and sewing accessories.
  • Enhancing maths skills.
  • Creating written work to support the production of the quilt and to be displayed with it.

Telephone 0161 620 9657  or email carmen@educationalresources.me.uk to discuss and order your project.

Devised Performances.

Quilts and a variety of suggestions and scenarios become theatrical props with which to explore subjects and create unique improvised performances.

On My Left Shoulder.

Devise an ensemble piece inspired by the symbols attached to the clothing of prisoners in concentration camps.

Focus on a variety of prisoners with quilts bearing  the range of coloured symbols used to define them.

Suitable for secondary level students in year 7 and above who have some knowledge of WW2.

A hardwearing double sized quilt and scenario pack costs £250.00 including post and packing for UK locations.

The Horse's Quilt.

Each of the twenty blocks in this quilt inspires a story relating to the Victorian era. Use them to create a whole class devised performance - or make up your own ideas.
