Quilt Kits -

Maths. Teamwork. Craft skills. Storytelling.

Quilt kits are ready for your group to use the moment they arrive. There's a foundation square for each person to create their design on and plenty of material to experiment with. Simple instructions make things easy for kids - and teachers.

         Then decide

  • if you want a random pattern, a design or something to help you look at maths.
  • how you want to share the fabric out

Then get sewing!

 Here are some ideas.

  •  Two main colours of your choice, with a third colour selected to enhance the overall effect. For example, you might choose greens and blues, with pale pink to enhance. Use in a random pattern or for a jungle scene.
  • Geometrical foundation squares to reinforce mathematical rules.
  • Seascape - Fabrics in blues, greens, greys and yellows so that your finished quilt reminds you of the sea or the beach.
  • Seasons - Red, orange, yellow, blue, grey, black green and brown fabrics to suggest the four seasons.
  • Starscape - Blue, black, red, orange yellow and shiny fabric enable an out of this world quilt. Cut out rockets and aliens to bring the scene to life.
  • Ragbag - A random selection of every colour to create an abstract design.
  • You choose - Think of a theme you'd like to represent such as your school, town, local beauty spot or monument or a topic your are studying. Then order a kit in the colours you want.

A fabric beach scene waits to be attached to other scenes. Yours doesn't have to be the same - it can be an underwater view, a picture of a shipwreck or beach-huts . The list is endless!

A hexagon flower, ready to be joined to other flowers to make a quilt top that can be decorated with buttons, beads, knots or quilting stitches.

The fabrics you choose will be made up of patterned, plain and hand dyed cottons, with some luxury and textured fabrics, across a wide range of shades. If possible, vintage stock will be included.

Wadding for the centre of the quilt is lightweight and easy to work with and the backing and binding will be hand dyed cotton in one of the shades you have chosen for the quilt top - you can choose.  If you want a quilt with a random pattern then choose a ragbag selection of colours, shades and textures.

Threads for sewing and quilting are supplied and embroidery threads and beads are provided with crazy kits. Backings for crazy quilts can be in printed cotton that reflects both quilt colours and the Victorian era, or for a more contemporary feel it can be of a matching hand dyed cotton.

Kits are priced at £10.00 per person / 26cm / 10 inch square, inclusive of all materials, wadding, backing, binding and UK postage. To order a kit and state your colour selections please telephone 0161 620 9657 or email
